南京威雅10年級(jí)的學(xué)生們
完成了三天兩夜的山林徒步
成功挑戰(zhàn)了愛丁堡公爵獎(jiǎng)之旅
他們一路經(jīng)歷了怎樣的艱辛和磨礪?
又收獲了哪些不同尋常的體悟和成長?
(以下是副校長亨特先生和學(xué)術(shù)增益負(fù)責(zé)人謝秀嫻老師就本次徒步旅行給家長的來信)
親愛的家長,
Dear parents,
在此非常高興地告知各位家長,G10的同學(xué)們?cè)诒局茉缧r(shí)候成功完成了徒步和露營之旅!我希望各位家長能和我以及南京威雅的所有老師一起為他們?nèi)〉玫某删透械津湴粒?/p>
I am delighted to tell you that the G10 students successfully completed the hiking and camping trip earlier this week! I hope you will join me and all the teachers here at WASNJ in being very proud of what they have achieved!
我很高興地看到學(xué)生們?yōu)檫@次旅行做好了充分的準(zhǔn)備,攜帶合適的衣服、鞋子、包及裝備。
I was very pleased to see that the students came well prepared for the trip, with appropriate clothes, shoes, bag and equipment.
周一上午,南京威雅的學(xué)生們率先上車,開始了前往曹山的旅程,與7名常州威雅的學(xué)生及2名教師會(huì)合。隨后,巴士繼續(xù)駛向龍池山,剩下的9名南京威雅和3名教師與常州威雅的其他學(xué)生及教師會(huì)合。我們想在這些旅行中實(shí)現(xiàn)的一件事是讓大家有機(jī)會(huì)認(rèn)識(shí)威雅學(xué)校的其他學(xué)生,我很高興看到他們結(jié)交了新朋友!
WASNJ students got on the bus on Monday morning and started the journey towards Caoshan first, where 7 students and 2 teachers got off the bus and joined lots of students and teachers from WASCZ. Then the bus continued to Longchishan and the remaining 9 WASNJ students and 3 teachers joined the rest of the WASCZ students and teachers. One of the things we want to achieve during these trips is give the students the chance to meet students at the other WA schools, and I was very pleased to see them make new friends!
然后,兩個(gè)營地的學(xué)生開始了活動(dòng),包括學(xué)習(xí)如何看地圖、使用指南針以及規(guī)劃路線。
The students in both locations then started the activities including learning how to read a map, use a compass, and plan the route.
曹山之旅是為那些想要獲得愛丁堡公爵國際獎(jiǎng)銅獎(jiǎng)的學(xué)生而設(shè)計(jì)。學(xué)生們接受了如何搭帳篷、如何有效地打包行李以及如何做野營烹飪的培訓(xùn)。同時(shí),他們同樣有時(shí)間學(xué)習(xí)了如何劃皮劃艇。在曹山的徒步旅行從第二天開始。
The trip in Caoshan was designed for students who want to work towards the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bronze level. These students also had some training with how to set up the tent, how to pack the bag efficiently and how to do camp cooking. They also had time to do some kayaking. The hike in Caoshan started on the second day.
龍池山之旅是為了幫助學(xué)生獲得愛丁堡公爵國際獎(jiǎng)的銀質(zhì)級(jí)別,所以這些學(xué)生在第一天就開始了徒步旅行。
The trip in Longchishan was designed to help students obtain the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Silver level, so these students started hiking on the first day.
在老師的指導(dǎo)下,學(xué)生們自己準(zhǔn)備并烹飪食物。大部分時(shí)間天氣很好,但龍池山周一晚上下雨了,所以大家把帳篷搬到了隱蔽的地方。我們?yōu)閷W(xué)生們以成熟和理智的方式處理這件事而感到驕傲。
The students prepared and cooked their own food, all while being supervised by the teachers. The weather was mostly fine but there was rain on Monday night in Longchishan so we moved the tents to an area that was undercover. We are very proud of the students for dealing with this in a mature and sensible way.
這種旅行的成果之一是讓學(xué)生們意識(shí)到,他們實(shí)際上是非常強(qiáng)大的,身體力量及精神,當(dāng)他們致力于挑戰(zhàn)時(shí),他們真的可以完成任何事情。對(duì)西方大學(xué)來說,適應(yīng)能力和毅力以及團(tuán)隊(duì)合作、溝通及領(lǐng)導(dǎo)能力等技能都是非常具有吸引力的優(yōu)秀品質(zhì)。當(dāng)學(xué)生們?cè)谶M(jìn)行大學(xué)申請(qǐng)時(shí),他們可以將這次旅行作為他們?cè)谛M膺\(yùn)用這些技能的一次機(jī)會(huì)。
One of the outcomes of this kind of trip is for the students to realise that they are actually very strong, physically and mentally, and they really can achieve anything when they apply themselves to a challenge. Resilience and perseverance are attractive qualities to Western universities, along with skills like cooperation and teamwork, communication and leadership. When the students write their university applications, they can refer to this trip as a time when they utilised these skills outside of school.

在適當(dāng)?shù)臅r(shí)候,我們將指導(dǎo)學(xué)生如何在他們的網(wǎng)站上注冊(cè)愛丁堡公爵國際獎(jiǎng),我們將鼓勵(lì)他們積極參與。徒步旅行和露營旅行是愛丁堡公爵國際獎(jiǎng)四部分的其中之一,因此我們也會(huì)向?qū)W生提供更多關(guān)于其他三部分的相關(guān)信息。
In due course, we will give the students instructions and guidance how to register for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award on their website and we will support them to actively participate. The hiking and camping trips are one of the four parts of the DofE, so we will also give the students more information on the other three parts of the Award.

這次旅行我收獲了很多,也交到了很多新朋友。
I gained a lot from this trip and made many new friends.
旅行并不算順利,因?yàn)榈谝惶焱砩舷铝吮┯?,我們的帳篷在凌晨三點(diǎn)開始漏水,導(dǎo)致我們不得不連夜“搬家”。雖然第一夜我們沒能休息好,但第二天我們還是堅(jiān)持按照原計(jì)劃開始了徒步。大家拖著疲憊的身體,一路上相互鼓勵(lì)、相互打氣,從爬山到徒步,盡管辛苦異常,我們還是相互支撐著走完了全程。
Although doe was not very happy this time, it rained on the first night, the tent leaked from 3 o 'clock, and we moved the tent. Basically, we didn't have a good rest on the first day, but we still had to go hiking according to the original plan the next day. Although from climbing to hiking, but still very hard, because everyone didn't rest well last night, but dragging the tired body, we encouraged each other along the way, we still did it, walked the whole way

第二天晚上,我們練習(xí)野營烹飪,煮食意大利面的過程中,我負(fù)責(zé)統(tǒng)籌大家的分工,有的小伙伴切菜,有的煮面,還有的小伙伴負(fù)責(zé)炒菜。過程免不了一波三折,但結(jié)局是很幸福的,我們每一個(gè)人都吃到了自己親手制作的美食。
The next night we were making pasta to eat, I gave you different jobs, someone cut vegetables, and cook noodles, and stir-fry, Alawn gave us a lot of excellent demonstrations. There were many episodes on the way, but the ending was happy. In the end, everyone ate the delicious food that they made by themselves.

最后一天我們起得很早,午餐時(shí)還自己做了三明治。終于要啟程返回學(xué)校了,我們都很興奮,一路上都更有勁兒了。下午六點(diǎn)四十,我們終于抵達(dá)了終點(diǎn)線。
We got up early, had breakfast and made sandwiches by ourselves for lunch. On the last day, we were all very excited because we were going back to school, and we all walked very fast. Finally, we reached the finish line under the leadership of our classmates in Nanjing.
這次旅行對(duì)我意義非凡,我學(xué)會(huì)了如何與團(tuán)隊(duì)合作,如何分配不同的任務(wù),如何理性地看待問題。我覺得這是一次很棒的活動(dòng)。
I also learned how to work as a team, assign different tasks, and look at problems rationally and objectively. All in all, I think it was a great activity, right.
